Retail Deadpool - update
Here's your Sunday update on the retail chain deadpool I'm running.  Thanks to all those of you who sent me your list of shops (and if you've not done so already, you can always join at any time - see previous post for rules!).  It's been a thrilling week in which I've been forced to read the financial pages of The Grauniad  to keep track of all the chaos.

Scores to date - Zero all round...

Local credit crunch spotting report.  The Rushes in Loughborough which was set up some years ago to be the buzzing hub of shopping in the town is taking a serious kicking.  It had/has
-a massive Big W (Woolworths, empty, dead, not lamented much)
- a Zavvi (in administration, offering a "massive" 10% discount and still over priced so soon to be toast)
- a JJB Sport (new chairman this week, offering discounts "up to 95%" though so far as I can see the only stuff with much off was the 10p shoelaces) - looking very skaky with whited out windows.
- Cargo (overpriced household knickknack store)
- M&S (Overpriced...well, everything other than their bras I'm assured)
- TKMax (looks like a giant pound shop, but will probably ride out the recession)
- A flash looking gym that no one seems to go in.
- Some sort of soft play area for tots and bored looking parental units

Erm and that's that.  So chances are if Zavvi and JJB both die shortly that the owners of the retail park will be nicely stuffed as well.  We shall see.  But locally whilst the market is doing well, I expect the credit cruch to pretty much kill off the shopping in Loughborough as stores rationalise, pull back to higher profit margin areas like Leicester and Nottingham.  More and more dead shop premises unlet now.  Arse.

I'll see how Leicester looks tomorrow!

Meanwhile still hoping to score a haggis before burns night, though chances of that locally are next to zero.

Our Sainsburys stock Haggis in the week up to Burns night - I think we still have one in Frezer from last year

They are... erm... reasonable - but then I'm used to ones from the likes of little butchers in places like Edinburgh (Tarvae bought me one back from a visit) and home made ones from Orkney - yes I admit it I have been spoilt.

Right. Doomed.

I'm going to put my arse on the line and say HMV.
Currys. Certainly the high street branches.
Has no-one said Boots yet? Boots then.
Jessops (may already be gone!)
Hobbycraft. No-one else has said it!

Well they didn't have a chain of stores and no one had them anyway...
